A burglarly unlocks a decades-old case. A safety depost box company unwittingly exposes a female political activist/fugitive who has been on the run for 20 years. Detectives locate and arrest one of the four involved in the burglarly, and ultimately catch the female fugitive who is accused of killing a policeman during a 1960s car bombing. '

Lieutenant Anita Van Buren (S. Epatha Merkerson) is held up at an ATM, but shoots her attackers -- killing one of the two robbers. When the victim is shown to have been mentally retarded, the ADAs decide to prosecute the other criminal with his partner's murder. '

Detectives Briscoe and Logan become suspicious of a man who reports his infant daugther missing. When the child turns up dead in an ice cooler, ADAs Kincaid and McCoy try to prove the mother was a victim of Munchausen by proxy. '

Two people killed by a drunk driver have detectives puzzled. Teh female victim, beaten and raped before the accident, was found in the driver's seat although her injuries suggest she wasn't driving. Clues lead straight to a city councilman's office and it takes the entire DAs office to make a case. Regina Taylor (The Education of Max Bickford) guest stars. '

A lawyer is found dead and the prime suspect has a solid alibi. Only after detectives link the victim to a fraudulent savings-and-loan king do they stumble upon a bankruptcy double-cross. The killing of a man who had served as a juror in a mob trial leads to a battle of wills between McCoy and his long-time friend, the suspect's attorney. '

After the body of a young female junkie is identified as the daughter of a wealthy family, Briscoe and Logan try to find out who left her to die in the yard of a day-care center. '

A doctor, known for her pro-choice stance, is shot in the parking lot of the health clinic. Detectives question the doctor's newest patient, but forensics lead to a planned parenthood demonstrator. Edward Herrmann (Gilmore Girls) guest stars. '

A successful white stockbroker is found dead of a broken neck. His coworkers immediately point the finger at "golden boy" Bud Greer -- a young, black junior trader. Bud tells Logan and Briscoe that success isn't about money, it's about power and with his major competitor dead, Bud now has the power. When Bud pleads insanity due to "black rage" the ADAs don't buy it for a second. Courtney B. Vance (Law & Order: Criminal Intent) guest stars. '

An amateur porn tape containing what appears to be the rapeand murder of a young girl has detectives trying to determine if the tape is real. The victim's tattoo leads to an address, where the victim herself answers the door -- which means the murder was false, but the rape was real. Monica Keena (Dawson's Creek) and Peter Facinelli (Riding in Cars with Boys) guest star. '

After a woman is killed during her unsuccessful attempt to shoot her husband, Detectives Logan and Briscoe discover that the couple was going to a fertility clinic. A doctor at the clinic is revealed to have been injecting his own sperm into many of his patients, without their knowledge -- an act further complicated by the fact that the doctor is HIV-positive. David Marguilies (The Sopranos) guest stars.

A man is shot and killed in front of his house after his son’s schoolmate is expelled for threatening his son with a gun. However, detectives soon discover that the expulsion had less to do with a gun and more to do with the boy not being socially acceptable by the school’s stuffy standards. The accused boy’s father tries to plead guildty to the crime in order to spare his son the humiliation of jail.

When a building under construction is blown up and a child dies as a result, Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Logan (Chris Noth) question the developer and general contractor. Later, after one man is sent to jail, ADAs McCoy (Sam Waterston) and Kincaid (Jill Hennessy) must rethink their actions when a new suspect emerges.

After a drunken binge and car wreck, a man returns to his childhood home and kills the couple asleep in the master bedroom. He claimes he thought he was stabbing his parents, and hypnosis reveals a history of abuse. But is self-defense a viable claim? '

After a physical altercation, an autistic 18-year-old is arrested and later dies in police custody. Further investigation reveals that the victim had left a behavorial control clinic in anger because the head doctor uses unethical electroshock therapy and an illegal sensory deprivation helmet to cure his patients.

Detective Logan’s childhood friend, and fellow detective, is found shot in an apparent suicide. The investigation leads detectives to a neighborhood priest, who has a history of molesting choir and altar boys -- including the dead man.

A cabbie is found murdered in what appears to be a robbery; however, Briscoe and Logan uncover his involvement in a number of get-rich-quick schemes. During the trial, much of the evidence appears to be circumstantial against one of the victim's partners -- until McCoy and Kincaid find a surprise witness at the last minute. A psychiatrist killed by a blow to the head was treating a patient with multiple personalities, but which one killed her? Detectives get access to the patient's diary and try to narrow the killer down to one out of three personalities.'

Controversial gay city councilman Richard Durban is shot dead after a forum to discuss gay-lesbian medical issues. The murder weapon is soon traced to a missing piece of evidence from a 1985 gun shop robbery -- meaning someone with access to the police department is to blame.
